My Cousin's giveaway

I'm very excited to announce that my cousin on her blog: http://candiddiversions.blogspot.com/ is having a giveaway and I am hoping to win it!! I really have my eyes set on the first set with the little house on the prairie book. I remember reading it when I was younger and would love to have it for my kiddies for when they get bigger. So if you have a chance stop by her blog and enter to win her giveaway!

Week 25- My sweet little Rutabaga

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Nothing much new on my side of things. I've been busy with church and the holiday weekend we just had. Still feeling great! I can definitely see my belly getting bigger and bigger and hopefully will get to post an updated picture soon.

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
Not much new is going on this past week. Baby Jay is still as active as ever which is a great sign. Hopefully tonight I will be able to post those pictures from California, so stay tuned!

Week 23- I love being pregnant!

How your baby's growing:Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.
So I'm finally back from my week long vacation to California which was amazing! I had soo much fun and am so thankful that Brian and Shannon invited us to stay with them. They were such great hosts!! I will be putting pictures up of my vacation and talking more about it later in the week but for now on to baby Jay! He's been much more active lately, actually having a pattern to his movements. He tends to be the most active around 10:30-11:30 and before I go to bed at night. I saw his first movement on the outside earlier this week which was incredible! He's now kicking harder and harder and I know longer have to hunt to find him kick me on the outside. You just lay your hand on my stomach and you can feel him kick. He's getting bigger and bigger and I can't wait to have him in my arms soon!!

Week 22- California here we come!

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.(Babycenter.com)

I had my monthly appointment with my doctor today and found out that I have to do the dreaded diabetes test on June 1st, my next appointment. They sent me home with a jar of the stuff to drink before I come and I am definitely not looking forward to it!! But on a good note we got to hear Jay's heartbeat and he was a strong 154!!:) I think he was sleeping because last time we heard it it was in the low 170s and high 160s. He should be sleeping because he was awfully active last night! We could feel him from the outside where he was either kicking or poking me, not sure which it was. I love being able to feel him and have Randy be able to feel him poke me as well! It's the neatest thing in the entire world. I can definitely tell his kicks and pushes are getting much much stronger than when I first felt him.
Randy and I leave for our vacation tomorrow morning so please keep us in your prayers while we travel! We are so excited to be gone for a week and to just relax and enjoy our week off from work! It'll be great to see his older brother Brian, and sister in law Shannon, as well as our sweet niece Mersadie! My day can't go quick enough since I can't wait to get there!!!
