12 weeks- Almost out of the 1st Trimester and update on appointment

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.( Babycenter.com)

Update: I had my 12 week appointment today and went to a different doctor in my practice and unfortunately didn't get to do the ultrasound, but I did get to hear the heartbeat which was the most amazing thing. Talk about hormones, it definitely made me cry. The lady put the instrument on my belly and we sat there for a second and automatically heard that little heart beat thump thumping away. They said the baby's heartbeat was 174 beats! Wowie is that fast!! I looked over at Randy and he just began to grin from ear to ear. How could anyone not love that little baby?! The entire thing just makes everything more real to me and I am in awe of the blessing God has given me with this little baby. The doctor said everything looks great and they plan on doing the ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby between 18-20 weeks so I can't wait to see my little baby and find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. My next appointment though is sceduled for March 24th which will just be routine but hopefully I'll get to hear the heartbeat again!

I'm still feeling great, eating still every two hours. The doctor asked me how do you feel and I just said I've never felt better in my life and that is the truth. I'm so very thankful to have this little baby and my wonderful husband and am so excited about this little family we have together. God is good!

Did you have any morning sickness?I didn't throw up thankfully but I did feel nauseous from 6 weeks to the beginning of 9 weeks.

Do you know what you’re having? Not yet but we plan on finding out.
Do you plan on a natural or medicated birth? I'm a big baby and don't think I could take a natural birth so I plan on a medicated one.

Do you have a name picked out? Yes but we aren't going to say until we find out if it's a boy or girl
Is your baby going to be named after anyone?See above note.
What do you think the baby will be a "daddy’s girl/boy" or a "mommy’s girl/boy"? Doesn't matter to me I just want a healthy sweet little baby!

11 weeks- Our little Lime

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a lime, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden. She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming. (www.babycenter.com )

As for me, I am feeling great. I can honestly say I've never felt better! I'm starting to gain my weight back that I lost while I was sick which is great. No strange cravings yet, but I did have cucumbers last night that were delicious!! I'm really starting to see a change in my stomach all of a sudden which is really exciting. I have started shopping for maternity clothes even though I'm not wearing them yet so I can at least get some good deals, not to mention I'm super excited! I've started to notice my dress pants are getting a little tight so I think in a few weeks I will be switching over to maternity pants. I have one more week and I get to see the baby and get to find out if we're having one or two, Randy thinks two and I think one. I have noticed I cry way more easier than normal which is annoying but oh well! I just love experiencing this and am enjoying every moment of being pregnant.

10 weeks- A Kumquat?!

Though he's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature. He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy. If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

As for myself I am doing absolutely fabulous! My appettite has returned and full force. The only thing I can't eat is hamburger meat. That thought of hamburger meat is not a lovely one for me. I eat almost every two hours still but no longer feel nauseous. Thankfully! I've been trying to gain weight or at least stay stable but I can't for the life of me gain weight or stay at where I was before I was pregnant. Looking at my scale I've lost a total of 4.5 lbs since finding out I was pregnant. So if anyone knows any tips or if this is normal that would be greatly appreciated! I've heard that it's very common to lose weight in the first tri-mester due to morning sickness but I'm sure hoping soon I'll see some sort of change with that. Two more weeks and I go to my next appointment and I can't wait!

Picture Tag

Cousin K over at her blog tagged me for this fun photo game. You're supposed to go to your picture files, open the 6th folder and post the 6th picture in that folder. I, being at work had to improvise a little bit so I went to my facebook page and found my 6th album and found this picture:

This is one of the pictures captured at mine and Randy's wedding on 8/6/2005. Seems like so long ago and boy do we look young! I had all the decorations that day in plum and I wanted to go with a candlelight wedding theme without being too dark to not show up in pictures. This was one of the best days of my life and I am so glad I am married to my best friend. I love Randy and hope we have many more wonderful years together. It's incredible to me that we will soon be welcoming our first little wonderful edition to this family and I hope its the first of many!

I am tagging:

9 weeks- Cletus the Fetus

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain. (http://www.babycenter.com/ )
So morning sickness has finally abated, yay!! As of five days ago I have yet to feel nauseous like I was feeling the previous weeks. I'm still having occasional problems with my silly sciatic nerve but it's at the most random times. I honestly feel the best I've ever felt. Except for having to get up in the middle of the night twice every night to use the bathroom I've never felt better or slept better. Today is also the day where my baby moves from the embryonic stage to the fetus stage! Grow baby grow! Just three more weeks and I get to see my baby. Yay!
