Doctor's Appointment

So we went to the Doctor's appointment today and found out little Jay's weight is at 8 lbs 4 ounces!! Yay!! Thats a huge improvement for a week and half ago where he was at 7 lbs! So he's gained 1 lb 4 ounces in a week which the doctor was very happy about. His jaundice levels are continuing to drop and were estimated at a 9. We did find out that little Jay Jay does have reflux and thus were given some medicine to help with the issue. Also I have had him on a three hour schedule during the day to feed since he's such a sleepy head but have found that he's having to wake up a lot at night to get his 8-11 feedings in so I've decided to switch to a 2 1/2 hour schedule and see if that makes an improvement. Fingers crossed hoping it works. He slept much better last night with only waking up twice in the middle of the night! Yay!! Don't know if I can credit the medicine or his eating schedule for that but whatever it was I'm extremely happy about it! And finally here are a few more pictures of my baby!

More Pictures of my beautiful baby

So over the past few days I've tried to take a few pictures each day and I can already tell a difference in little Jay since he was born. He seems more and more awake. We're still working on his nighttime sleep, he sometimes sleeps three hours at a time for nighttime but then we have when he wants to wake every hour to hour and a half at night. I think he still has his daytimes and nighttimes a little mixed up. Oh well, we will just keep working on his sleeping and eating and waketimes and hopefully get it all fixed soon! Jay Jay has an appointment with the pediatrician tomorrow to check on how he's doing so I will post a new update sometime tomorrow or friday with all the new news.

Reflux

So two nights ago Jay Jay had a not so good night. He was up from 8:30-11:30. He finally fell asleep at 11:30 and then woke up at 12:30 and was up til 1:30 and then woke up at 2:00 to stay up til 5:30 to finally fall asleep til 8:00. He cried and cried the entire time he was awake and not really knowing what the problem was I fed him on and off thinking maybe he was cluster feeding or just hungry. Well I've come to realize that when I feed him he tends to get a raspy noise in his throat and pulls his legs up and balls his fist as if in pain. Well last night I realized he was on the start of this routine once again so I began to do a little research. What I found out was that little Jay had almost every symptom of reflux. So in turn I have began to try to burp him better after each side, hold him upright longer before he falls asleep and rub his back. All these things seem to calm him. My next step of action is to find a sleep positioner or something that will prop him up just enough so he can sleep without having the raspiness come into play. Last night I had him sleep in his car seat to see if the position helped and he slept like a dream last night. I didn't hear him rasping. If anyone has any advice on this subject, let me know! Anything would be greatly appreciated! Jay has a dr appointment on thursday so I will let the dr know about everything and hopefully get some solutions.

Week One- Finally Home Again!

So this week has been a very eventful week. From delivering my beautiful baby boy to have to rush him to Children's ICU for his billirubin levels. Basically this week has just been a time of having Jay under the phototherapy and using the bili blanket at Childrens. He was admitted on Tuesday night with levels of 24.7. They took his levels several times and they went according: 21, 17.4, and 12.7. He got to go home yesterday and has been doing wonderfully. His feeding seem to be going great and since Tuesday has already gained 7 ounces. We unfortunately have been told by his doctor not to allow him to go out in public to any events where there are many people until he is 6 weeks old due to his immune system being so low. I'm just soo happy to have him home with me:) Happy 1 week old Jay Jay!

Baby Jay's Birth Story

I wanted to place on here baby Jay's birth story so I could remember everything. I had a pretty long labor but am so glad to have my baby and would do it over again to have my baby with me.
Arrived at the hospital at 2:00 to be induced but was having mild contractions off and on. Was brought to the room at 2:15 and did paperwork until 3:10. Was hooked up to iv and began receiving one milliunit of pitocin at 4:10. Wasn't feeling much so at 4:40 they uped the pitocin to a 3. Was upped to a 5 at 5:15 and then a 7 at 5:50. Was starting to feel the contractions but wasn't in too much pain but decided to take the epidural so at 6:10 I received the epidural, which was not painful at all. at 9:00 my water was broken and I began receiving 10 milliunits of pitocin. At 10:30 I received 12 milliunits of pitocin. The max milliunits of pitocin that they usually give is 20 so I was past half of what they can give. At 1:50 the nurse checked me and I had jumped from a 3 to 6. At 2:10 I was checked again and was 8 centimeters dialated. I began feeling my epidural not working at around 4:00 and feeling the need to push. They checked me and I was fully dialated and efaced but the baby's head was positioned sunny side up. In turn I had to alternate being on my side so to turn the baby's head. At this point my epidural had completely worn off. They brought the anathesologist in several times but none of the times worked. I was at this time having contractions one right after another off the charts and was in extreme pain. I was continuously having the need to push and at 7:00 I could no longer control that. The doctor came in and moved the baby's head to the correct position and I began pushing. I pushed over and over and the doctor said that the baby was so large that I would have to have an episiotomy. So they gave me the episiotomy, which I could feel, and then used the vacuum to get the baby out. At 8:15 a.m. the baby was born at 7 lbs and 14.5 ounces at 21 inches long. I in turn did have a third degree tear but I am so very thankful that I was able to have my baby vaginally but I do wish that my epidural had worked at the end. I would do it all over again though to have my baby. Baby Jay's apgar score was 9/9 which is fabulous! He had an awful bruise on his head but now his head is back to a more normal shape and the bruise is going away. I'm feeling much better but definitely sore. I have to say the best moment would have to be when they took my baby when he came out and placed him on my chest and I could look down at this beautiful baby that was mine. My heart melted. That's my wonderful birth story.

Induced Labor

Just wanted to place a quick note that the doctor's are inducing labor tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Yay! I went to the Dr's today and they said I was still 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced and due to be being past due they could schedule my induction so I ellected to do so. So hopefully sometime late tomorrow I will be holding my little Jay in my arms. The doctor said that if I ended up getting stronger contractions and closer together to come in but if not that he'll see me tomorrow at 2:00. Yay!!!

40 Weeks- Yes he is still in my belly!!

How your baby's growing:

It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long. His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.

Yes, that's right, Jay Jay is still comfortably cocooned in my belly. I thought for sure he'd be here by now so it's pretty crazy to be sitting here posting my 40 week update. Nothing new really, still feeling contractions but nothing strong enough. He's still moving around but his head is so low it's about to kill me. I wake up around 8-9 times in the middle of the night so I'm very much ready to have him. I keep waking up hoping it'll be the day. I guess we will see when it will happen. My last appointment I was 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced. My next appointment is Thursday and I am hoping they decide to induce me if I haven't had him already. I will place a post when I have him.

When are you coming?!

So this morning I woke up to some very painful consistent contractions, so Randy called our obgyn and they said come on it right now. So in conclusion I went to the Doctor's office and they checked me and I was 3 cm dialated so they decided to send me over to the hospital to be monitored. The nurses monitored me for around 3 hours and came to the conclusion that I was indeed having contractions about every 2-3 minutes but unfortunately they weren't strong enough to progress me quick enough. Dr. Packard gave me two options, I could stay and be given pitocin but she said that she wouldn't suggest it because contractions would be extremely painful and my labor could take a long long time. She said the second option was go home and walk around and then maybe relax a little bit and when the contractions get so painful that I cry or can't do much of anything to come in. She just didn't want me staying there for hours upon hours. So I decided to go home and eat some food and hopefully get the contractions going. Contractions are still here but not much stronger. Hopefully something will happen soon I just can't wait to see him. I have enjoyed this pregnancy very much but just am soooo ready to see Jay.

39 Weeks- When are you going to show?

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it's likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath. (Babycenter.com)

I am sooooo ready to have this baby but he doesn't seem to want to show. I only have one more week and my due date will be here. Whew! Time has flown!! I have my appointment today so I am hoping she is going to decide that the baby is ready and I will be having him soon. Probably wishful thinking but we will see! I went yesterday to the new Cincinnati Premier Outlet Malls in Monroe and wasn't too impressed. There were quite a few stores but most of them were too expensive for me. They did have a Carter outlet there and I was very impressed with their prices. So I guess I will be going there after Jay Jay is born if I need some more clothes. If anything happens today I will keep everyone posted! Pray for me that Jay will come soon!
