Move baby move! Moving to 8 weeks

New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.(www.babycenter.com)

Starting this week I've had way less nausea the past couple of days. I can actually feel my appetite returning! Hallelujah!!! I have noticed my sciatic nerve has been driving me crazy lately, which I'm not too sure if it's from baby or has nothing to do with the pregnancy. I'm still having cravings for different foods, for instance we ate at Bob Evan's last night and I had the pot roast dinner which the pot roast was ehh but the potatoes and cup of potato soup I had was great!! I can't believe I only have four more weeks and I can see my little baby and hear it's heartbeat! I'm counting down the days! Only 28 more days to go! Yay!

7 weeks picture

I know I promised a picture a few days ago, but unfortunately I haven't had time to take one until today. I'm starting to see some kind of change. Call it bloat or call it baby, it's something! What doesn't make sense is I've lost a pound, not intentionally, since finding out I'm pregnant must be all the fruit I'm eating!

Morning sickness, pickles, and more!

So I've officially hit my 7 week mark and the morning sickness is slowly getting better each day....please don't be jealous if you had morning sickness through your entire pregnancy, just know that I believe God knows I would not be able to handle that! I woke up this morning for the first time in a week and half and was okay. I ate my handful of crackers I always eat every morning and felt great. I went to work craving Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and ate some grapes instead, I would have much rather had the ice cream though. For the past two days I've noticed the nausea has waned slightly which I am so thankful for and I am hoping and praying this is permanent and not just some fluke! Another new craving is my constant craving of Dill pickles. I could eat pickles everyday and be content, not saying I do this but just saying I could. That's about all the updates for the day. I plan on adding a new belly picture later tonight or tomorrow. Stay tuned!

7 Weeks

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place. (www.thenest.com)
The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry. If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body.( www.babycenter.com)
I can't believe how fast time is flying. I'm almost at my two month mark and it seems like it was yesterday that I was announcing I was pregnant to everyone. I'm still loving every minute of pregnancy. Even though I'm still feeling nauseous I'm doing much better than last week. I've found that crackers, fruit, and peanut butter are my best friend for right now. Hopefully I'll be one of the lucky one's where morning sickness only lasts a little while. I guess we will see. To me though it's worth being sick everyday just to be able to hold my baby in my arms when that day comes!

Baxter

No that is not the name of the baby if it's a boy, that's the name of our new car! That's right, after fixing our good ole Hondas( The 87 Prelude and the 93 Civic) one too many times Randy and I have ventured out to buy our first car together! So drum roll please.....

It's a Honda Civic 2006!!! We absolutely love it! It only has 13900 miles on it and only one owner and in mint condition to top it all off! Also we got a major deal on it might I add. So now we have a reliable car for when the baby comes!

So to go off of the topic of pregnancy, My Cousin K had a quiz she had taken and I knew I had to take it to see what I am. I'm not sure if it's exactly me but it's pretty close:

Our First Appointment

So really there's nothing too exciting to report except that the Dr confirmed I'm pregnant! My official due date will be September 8Th 2009, which is what I had figured by my calculations. The Dr gave me tons of information to read and now I can finally get some relief for my cold I have. I haven't wanted to take any medication for it until I got confirmation from the Dr on what I could take. My next appointment will be on February 24Th, I will be 12 weeks that day! The great news is I will get to do an ultrasound as well as hear the heartbeat on that day. I can't wait to see my little baby!!
Also update on Food cravings: Since I have been feeling nauseous I haven't wanted to eat much. The only thing I can stomach is fruit and pickles, not together though!! So guess I'm going to have to make a run and buy tons and tons of fruit for my dinner and lunches. Also found that hot dog buns with no hot dog help a lot with the nausea. If anyone knows of any other foods you can eat while feeling sick that would be greatly appreciated!

Our Little Sweetpea

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate. (www.thebump.com)
This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.(www.babycenter.com)
So for me I'm still feeling pretty good! Yesterday I had my first bout of nausea, which I have to admit was not fun!! Everything I would try to eat was disgusting, everything smelled yucky and nothing looked good! Thankfully, today is a much better day for me, I didn't wake up with that yucky feeling in the pit of my stomach, so I'm counting my blessing each and everyday!

Thanks!

Update: 1/13/09- Just found out from my mom that my dad is doing much better! The dr's are weening him off his medication and he is now able to talk with us. Thank you for all of your prayers!

Amy's Pregnant!

So I wanted to add this post since my sister-in-law took this picture for me. So the day we told Randy's parents we decided we were going to use this doodle board and just place it on the table and see how long it took for his parents to see. It took probably a good half an hour to an hour, and even then Sharon moved it without looking at it so we had to ask her what it said. Needless to say afterwards there was much shrieking and hollering and a few tears mixed with the excitement, it was an awesome moment! The artwork was done by Randy due to the fact that he's the doodle artist in the family.

Meat and Potatoes Baby

That's right this baby is going to be a meat and potatoes baby. Let me explain! So for those that don't know this about me I really don't like meat very much, in fact if I had to be I could be a vegetarian easily. Anyways, in the past week or so I've found that I hate pasta, gasp I know this can't be, and I crave any meat!!! Yesterday Randy and I went on a wild goose hunt to find tomatoes so we could make bacon and tomato sandwiches, my mouth is watering just thinking about it right now. So we went to our usual Walmart and lo and behold no tomatoes!!! What kind of walmart has no tomatoes!!! I mean not even the grape or cherry tomatoes. But they did have ham steaks so I picked up some of those and then decided let's go to Kroger's and see if they have some tomatoes. So off we go to Kroger's and thankfully they had tomatoes!!! Yay! So we went back to our house and made our bacon, made our toast, and finished cutting the tomatoes to realize we have no mayonnaise!!! We cannot, and I repeat, cannot eat blt's without mayonnaise!! So off Randy and I go to UDF to pick up mayo....All that for a stinkin' blt!! But let me tell you the BLT's were heavenly!! Looking forward to another night of BLT's!! Thank you Randy for your patience, I love you!

Baby's First Clothes

First off I want to start this post by saying thank you so much to my family members that bought the first baby clothes- You know who you are!- I love them!!!
The day that we told our family about the baby, that night Randy and I came home to a little present in our doorway. We anxiously opened it to find two little outfits, one for a boy and one for a girl, shoes, and some cute little socks. I had to post on here the cute outfits so everyone could see them. Thank you again!!!

Week 5- The Growing Tadpole

How your baby's growing:Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point, he's about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm — which will later form all of his organs and tissues. The neural tube — from which your baby's brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone will sprout — is starting to develop in the top layer, called the ectoderm. This layer will also give rise to his skin, hair, nails, mammary and sweat glands, and tooth enamel. His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.) The mesoderm will also form your baby's muscles, cartilage, bone, and subcutaneous (under skin) tissue. The third layer, or endoderm, will house his lungs, intestines, and rudimentary urinary system, as well as his thyroid, liver, and pancreas. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.(http://www.babycenter.com/)
I just scheduled my first appointment for January 14th, so Randy and I are super excited to check to see what's going on and what to expect in the months to come. I was told we might be able to hear the heartbeat, so crossing our fingers and toes hoping we will get to!

Week 4- Our little Poppyseed

In week 4, now safe in your womb, the ball of cells (blastocyst) splits in two, becoming the embryo and the placenta. The amniotic sac and fluid are forming around baby, and will act as a cushion for the next eight months (www.thebump.com)
This week marks the beginning of the embryonic period. From now until 10 weeks, all of your baby's organs will begin to develop and some will even begin to function. As a result, this is the time when she'll be most vulnerable to anything that might interfere with her development.Right now your baby is an embryo the size of a poppy seed, consisting of two layers: the epiblast and the hypoblast, from which all of her organs and body parts will develop. The primitive placenta is also made up of two layers at this point. Its cells are tunneling into the lining of your uterus, creating spaces for your blood to flow so that the developed placenta will be able to provide nutrients and oxygen to your growing baby when it starts to function at the end of this week. Also present now are the amniotic sac, which will house your baby; the amniotic fluid, which will cushion her as she grows; and the yolk sac, which produces your baby's red blood cells and helps deliver nutrients to her until the placenta has developed and is ready to take over this duty.(www.babycenter.com)

The day everything changed!

On December 30th, 2008 everything changed for Randy and I. I woke up my usual time went into the bathroom and took a pregnancy test and found out we are expecting our first child!!! I still am in so much shock and bliss that I don't know what to do! Since it's been a few days now that I've had my positive test I've had time to think about what maybe clued me in to the fact that I might be pregnant. It might have been the fact that Randy's father has been announcing from the pulpit every week since the end of november that I'm pregnant (even though Randy and I didn't even know we were or had told anyone we were trying), or maybe the fact that I have been more tired and way more thirsty than normal. Whatever the clue was I am just soo excited!!! Ever since Randy and I were married I have been dreaming of the day I could have my first baby. Now I am so thankful to say that the day is finally here!

In the weeks to come you will get to experience the exciting journey that Randy and I will be taking. We will be first time parents!!! Yay!!
